New DogDharma Pups in Training

Here are the new DogDharma pups-in-training.  In the first photo, Cecil with dark face is on the left, and Grady with big ears is on the right.  Cecil is 1/2 rat terrier and 1/2 chihuahua, but he wants everyone to know he only claims the rat terrier part.  He’s heading toward 2 years old.

Grady was born in rescue.  His pregnant mother was saved from a puppy mill in South Carolina by Lucky Dog Rescue, and brought to the DC area for adoption.  I was the lucky one who got him!  He doesn’t know his “ethnicity,” but we think he might be part basenji.  Grady is a year old.

While Otis may have been the smartest dog I ever met, Cecil and Grady have hearts of pure gold.  They love anybody and everybody they meet, including all other dogs.  Well, they’re not too fond of the cats that taunt them across the fence, but they give a friendly “Woof!”

Cecil and Grady are bonded blood brothers.  They adore each other, and share food and toys without even a single curled lip.  Cecil is about 15 lbs and Grady is about 25 lbs.  Let me tell you, I feel every one of those pounds when they try to sleep on top of me!

Cecil and Grady carry on the tradition of the original DogDharma by giving me unconditional love.  I hope they understand when I cry my tears and do less for them than I’d like to do.  But they are my babies, and NO ONE will ever hurt them.  EVER

About DogDharma

Dog Dharma is written by a human who loves dogs and who believes dogs have attained enlightenment. The human behind Dog Dharma came from humble origins, has faced many trials, enjoyed many adventures, and taken a path less traveled. He claims no special privilege or expertise, and remains humble. Dog Dharma‘s author has learned a few things along the way, and has much yet to learn. He has been told by many people that he has a talent for writing, and aspires to write a book, but is a little too lazy and disorganized, so his blog will suffice for now. He opens a window into his life in the hope that some of his words may be of comfort, some may be a beacon or warning, and perhaps he will connect with like-minded souls. Everything shared comes from a place of openness and honesty, but with no claim that he possesses the Truth. People and places mentioned should be taken as pseudonyms. In many cases, details may be an amalgamation of actual events disguised to protect the “innocent.” Nothing written is to be taken as actual fact, but as the author of Dharma Dog‘s limited understanding. They are sending happy tail wags back, “Woof! Woof! Play, woof, play! Did someone say treat?”

PS: The 3rd photo is one of them on a tiny dog bed I got for Cecil hen he was a baby and only 4 lbs. Now they try to get on it together, and and sometimes they look like a stack of short pancakes, with big Grady on top of little Cecil! They have the sofa and other beds, but still they do this!
